Thanksgiving

THANKSGIVING!!!
During the month of November the students at HDLA not only celebrated Day of the Dead, we also took part in celebrating Thanksgiving. Our kinder students really enjoyed learning about pilgrims and Indians, but the part they loved most was learning about the food that we Harvest in autumn and learning about all the traditional Thanksgiving food that is served on Thanksgiving Day.  In preparation for our Thanksgiving feast we read stories about pilgrims and Indians and we also read stories comparing the past to the present.  Our students also learned about the long voyage pilgrims made to get to the Americas.  On November 20th our students gathered with some of their parents for our Thanksgiving feast.  The kinders ate turkey sandwiches, pumpkin pie, apple pie and shared a fall fruit salad.  Many students who are picky eaters and who do not usually enjoy turkey devoured their sandwiches so they could feel as though they were part of a special tradition.  But of course the kinders all voted that the best part about our celebration was eating the pie. We hope you enjoyed hearing about what we studied during the month of November. We are excited to see and hear about all the things that you have been doing these past months as well.
Many kinder hugs being sent your way,
Ms. Lane and Sra. Lane...and our kinders (Room D-1 and D-2)
